La Paz, Bolivia

I arrived in La Paz a couple of days ago, after an extremely lengthy journey from Manchester via Heathrow and Miami to my final destination (for now), La Paz. I couldn't tell if my light-headedness upon arrival was through lack of oxygen or lack of sleep, to be honest. I managed to make it all the way through immigration, baggage collection and a short taxi ride to my hotel. Sleeping was the hard part, because my heart was pounding and I was definitely feeling the altitude effects. I went to bed about 6am, and woke up about 12pm for lunch with the International Service Bolivia team (I had chilli; it was very nice).
I'm here with two other team leaders for now: Tom and Tasha. We walked back up the hill to the office (my lungs nearly exploded), and then had a meal together in the evening. It's been nice to share these first few days with them both, as they're clearly kind, friendly, fun people to be around. As I will be travelling on to Sucre in a couple of weeks, and they are staying in La Paz, they are in a flat together while I am on my own in a hotel. It has been quite lonely in the evenings, but I've been quite tired so it's easy just to go to bed. I haven't been able to arrange a phone card yet, so have been unable to call home. I've been emailing everyone though, which is okay but I would quite like to hear their voices. Once I have found out where I can buy calling cards from, I will be set :)
